Are you ready for success?

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

The true test to determine if you’re for success is if you’re prepared to do something regardless of whether you’re going to fail or succeed. You’re only likely to succeed if you don’t give a hoot whether you fail or succeed. All that should be about is whether you try, you give it your best shot. if it works, it works. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.

However if you first want to determine if you’ll succeed and based on the outcome you decide whether you’ll do something or not, then you’re definitely not ready for success. Because that means that you external circumstances determine your success and not you.

Successful people have learned that success is something you create. You carry it with you, and since you carry it with you, it can pop at any moment. It doesn’t depend on some pre-existing circumstance.

The following quote by Von Goethe says it perfectly:

“I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous…. “
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

One of my heroes, Thomas Edison failed more than 1000 times in his efforts to build a working light-bulb. Whenever he had an idea, he tried it. If it didn’t work, it was no big deal. It was just one more idea that didn’t work and one more idea that he can safely eliminate.

If you go left and it doesn’t work you go right. If that doesn’t work you go over the top or if that doesn’t work you go underneath it or even through it. But whatever you do don’t give up and expect success around any turn.

Have you read all the success and law of attraction books out there? Yet, are you still to crack this thing called success? Then check out the Ultimate Manifesting Guide and increase the effectiveness of the law of attraction by 1000 percent.

Perhaps, You Are Not Ready For Your Dream!

Monday, April 27th, 2009

We all have dreams that we would love to realize, but for some of us it seems like it will never happen…

Have you ever considered that perhaps, you are not ready for your dream and that this is the reason why your dream is delayed?

Most people want something to happen or somebody else to make the first move, before they do go into action.

In the case of your dreams you want somebody to give you a break or you want the Universe or God to pull some strings to get you into a place before you start taking action to realize your goals and dreams.

Unfortunately, the Universe doesn’t work that way.

You have to make the first move… not the Universe, or somebody else. Sometimes you have to make a number of moves before things start happening… and doors start opening.

In many cases the move that you want to make is not the right one at that time.

Let me explain by giving you an analogy. Let’s imagine you want to cross the river to go the other side. Now you probably think that the most important thing would be to find something to cross the river with, like a boat.

So lets say you look for something to built a boat with, but you can’t find anything. What are you going to do? Most people would just do nothing, except complain that they’re stuck on the side of the river where they don’t want to be.

Is this helpful? Absolutely not…

Or here is another analogy. Many people all over the world would love to immigrate to the United States. So they would do all kinds of things including enrolling in the annual Green Card Lottery. When this doesn’t work they don’t do anything at all.

Is this helpful? Again the answer is no.

So what are people supposed to do? It all depends on what they want to do once they get to their destination.

What do you want to do once you cross the river or once you get to the United States?

This is what you should think about and put your energy and efforts into.

Once you start dreaming about something and actively prepare to have that thing come into your life, even if you don’t know how it’s going to happen, something very interesting happens.

The Universe actually starts to draw that thing to you much faster than if you were to do it yourself.

That is why it is very important that you know what you want, before you do anything.

It is the most important question you can ask yourself, because in that question and the answer you give is contained the key to unlock your dreams.

Whenever I ask people what it is their dream, many say: “to go to the United States” which is the same as saying “I want to cross the river.” So after you cross the river or get to the USA, then what

It is only when you ask the follow up question, that it becomes clear what they want to go and do there. However, many people continue to give a similarly vague answer to the follow-up question.

They may say something like, “to live a good live” or “to live the American dream” or “to be successful” or rich or something similarly vague.

When I hear answers like that, I’m not surprised that the person still hasn’t realized his dreams.

In order to manifest your dreams you have to be specific. The more specific the better…

If you have a specific dream you can make specific plans and you can clearly visualize your dreams because they are clearly defined. The more clearly you can visualize your dreams and focus on it, the faster the Universe will act upon it and bring you the desires of your heart by attracting the people, resources and circumstances that will make it all happen.

So what are the things that you can do for example if you want to go to the United States to become a famous singer? Start singing right where you are; Start writing songs and start performing with people so that when the time comes, you will be ready.

I define “luck” as the collision between “opportunity” and “preparedness.”

When opportunity comes and you’re not ready, it is as if you never got an opportunity, because you won’t be able to take advantage of it either way.

“The secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes.” Earl of Beaconsfield

Man times we look at people who experience good things in life and we say, “he or she is so lucky, I wish it was me” or some would get negative and say things like, “I can sing better than her, yet she gets all the opportunities. Life is so unfair.”

The other day I happened to watch Tyra Banks’ Talk Show and in this specific show she introduced a young man she met while holidaying in Palm Springs. He was a waiter there who was serving Tyra and her friend. During this interaction this young man made such an impression on Tyra that she decided to invite him to New York where she organized a modeling contract for him.

This young man had no modeling experience or training. Even though he was not at the place where he would’ve liked, he was happy where he was with what he had. He did the best that he could with what he had.

He made sure that he was well groomed and treated his guests with the utmost professionalism. He often went the extra mile, doing just a little more than what was expected of him.

Unbeknownst to him something was brewing in the Universe. Something good was about to happen to him. His dreams were about to be realized. But he was not in the business of looking around to see if something was happening. He continued doing the best that he could, the best he knew how. And in time the Universe delivered his dream. Better than even, he could have planned it.

So instead of worrying about building a boat to cross the river or trying to enter the USA Green Card Lottery, maybe you should think about what exactly it is you want and then start preparing yourself for that event. Start living your dream as if it has already happened, even though it hasn’t. Start visualizing yourself as though you’re already that model or singer by modeling clothes or singing for others.

Start behaving and acting in a confident manner, just like you would have acted if you were already the person you want to be.

Once you step into the role of your future self, the Universe has no other option but to give you the desires of your heart. It will supply the boat and the captain or it will provide the USA resident permit plus the person whose recommendation will open the doors for you. When you do that, you’ll be ready when your opportunity comes along and others will start calling you lucky.

How to Get Everything You Want Now

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

What do you want?

Whatever it is, you can have it.

I’m sure I’m not the first person who told you this. You have heard every personal development guru tell you this for as long as you can remember, yet you don’t have it.

Why?

There are a number of very fundamental laws that govern the Universe and movies such as “The Secret” have simply alluded to these laws but haven’t really gone into details as to what exactly they are and how they operate. The result is that most people have a very superficial understanding of these laws. Even people who have been studying the Law of Attraction have taken a long time before they really understood these laws and applied it in their lives.

One of the most difficult to understand and implement laws, yet probably the most important is the Law of Being.

When people say “you have to become the change you wish to see”, they are referring to the Law of Being. This law is at the heart of transformation. It is the law that gives the law of attraction its attraction power.

You cannot give away what you do not have and you cannot attract what you don’t have. So in order to attract what you want, you have to become it.

Let me use the analogy of a magnet. Just as a magnet has fixed poles that attract and repel you also attract and repel based on your polarity at any given time.

You can make the law of attraction work for short periods of time by acting and without essentially changing who and what you are. However, it is only when you’ve changed into the person that you want to become that you will attract your dreams and goals. For this to happen you essentially have to undergo a transformation process.

Shirley Ceasar sang, “In order to get to, you have to go through”.

“In order to be something and have something, you have to go through something”.

Most people don’t get to the process of transformation when things are well. It takes a crisis of some sorts, when you’re with your back against the wall. That is usually the time, when we’re are forced to reveal the real person inside.

I quote Episcopal Bishop Phillips Brooks: “Character may be manifested in the great moments, but it is made in the small ones”.

The German phlosopher Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said “Character is formed in the stormy billows of the world”.

Behind every story of success culminating in an Oscar or Grammy award there is a preceding moment of darkness that the world doesn’t know about unless the person shares it.

All of those people whom we look up to and revere had them. Bill Gates had them, Oprah Winfrey had them. Those were the moments that you doubt yourself that you can make it.

Now of course we can see that they did, and the reason they made is because in those moments of testing their true characters were revealed.

Many people referred to Alicia Keyes rise as sudden and here is what Alicia said when she received her first Grammy: “This album was a lot of years in the making, a lot of struggle in the making. I would like to dedicate this to thinking out of the box, not being afraid to be who you are”.

Just as gold has to go through the fire to produce the purest version of itself, we too have to go through something in order to become the best version of ourselves.

Yes, you can have everything you ever wanted. But as the the law of attraction states that “like attracts like”, you have to become a magnet to attract it. Faking it will only prolong your suffering and struggle.

So here is the deal. You can make it. This year, 2009 can be your year in which it all comes together, but you gotta stop playing it safe and go for it with everything you’ve got. You have to be willing to be vulnerable and put all your chips on the table and let them fall wherever they may.

That is the secret to your success.

Perfection is the enemy of success

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

How many times have you wanted to do something and delay it and perhaps eventually not do it at all just because it wasn’t perfect? Wanting things to be perfect before we do it everytime is one of the biggest reasons why we never get started in the first place. And what it does is that it kills our dreams in the starting blocks before they even had half a chance. Just consider where you could’ve been if you had just taken that chance. What would you have achieved if you had just gone ahead and did that thing you wanted to do even though it looked like it might not succeed. So what is it with this perfection thing… Why do we want things to be perfect, and why can’t we seem to get over it?Wanting things to be perfect comes from our fear of failure and fear of embarrasment and humiliation. We believe if things are perfect when we start, people will somehow like us and we will not make mistakes. However, those of us who think that way don’t realize that failing and mistakes is part of what makes us human. We’re not perfect beings and God never intended for us to be that way. Making mistakes is necessary part of living and growing. It is through making mistakes that we learn what works and what doesn’t and that we don’t after all like what we think we did. And in the process we learn to know parts of ourselves that we otherwise would never have known. So forget about making mistakes and just start doing what you feel like doing. Who knows where it will take you and what new and wonderful worlds you’ll discover.

Why Do We Have to Struggle to Get Money?

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Having money represents a struggle for most people. When they think of money they inevitably think of struggle. If you have a negative feeling about something you’ll not enjoy it and you’ll subsequently not succeed with it.

I have learned that the way we view something plays a big, big role in determining whether we will have more of that thing or not. If you associate money with struggle, then I can assure you, you will have a hard time attracting money.

You’ll always find yourself having to struggle first before you get even a little bit of it.

And then there are those people who don’t struggle, yet they get money. But get this, the fact that they don’t struggle doesn’t mean that they don’t put in some type of effort.

You cannot have money without putting in some type of effort. Even if you win the lottery you have to put in an effort (buy the ticket, watch the results and if you’ve won, call the hotline and claim your winnings).

The difference between struggle and effort is, the one is forced, and the other is done with joy, excitement and pleasure.

All the people in the world who are rich today had to put in some type of effort. What unlocked the doors to wealth for them is “the joy” they put into that effort.

So, if you are reading this and you haven’t made it yet. You can make it, but not through struggle. You can make it by putting joy into your effort.

So the answer to my question, “why do we have to struggle to get money” is. We don’t have to struggle.  We just have to put in an effort.

Why do we have to put in an effort at all? Apart from the fact that, this is just the way it is; it builds your capacity.

I can tell you what to do, but it is only by doing it that you really get it. Knowing how to do something not only gives you skill, it gives you confidence, it gives you power, it gives you money.

Walking a New Road

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Here is a good question to ask yourself. Ten years from now you will surely arrive. The question is, where? We don’t want to kid ourselves about where; we don’t want to kid ourselves about the road we’re walking.

At age 25, I had a day shortly after I met Mr. Schoaff called “do not kid myself anymore” day. I didn’t want to be disillusioned anymore. Up until then, I had been using the crossed-finger theory. But after meeting Mr. Schoaff, I finally decided that the crossed-finger theory was not going to get me what I wanted. That it wasn’t where the treasure lies. That I was going to have to make sure which way I was headed

Then, with the help of Mr. Schoaff, I found with a few reading disciplines, and a few disciplines of mind, and a few disciplines of activity, that when exercised, can begin making all the difference in the world as to where you will arrive.

Just a few changes. Sometimes we get the idea that we’re doing about 10% and there’s about 90% more that we need in order to make the difference for our fortune but probably the opposite is true. We’re doing enough things to have bought and shared in the good life so far. And maybe all we need is that extra 5% or 10% of intellectual change. Activity change. A refinement of discipline. A refinement of thought. And all we need is the ideas to make those simple changes and the equity starts gathering in one year, three years, five years, ten years.

I have a good comment for you: Now’s the time to fix the next 10 years. Now, you may have to come to grips with reality and with truth; that’s what was good for me when I met Mr. Schoaff, I was 25 years old, he was 44 years old. And he brought me a wealth of experience and he started asking me the tough questions. “Big question”, he said, “Are you reading the books that are going to take you where you want to go in the next 5 years?”

Excellent question. See, you want to make sure. I would assume for all of you, to get to where you want to be in the next 5 years, you are either reading the right books or you’re not. You’re either engaged in the disciplines or you’re not. But, here’s what we don’t want to engage in: disillusion. Hoping without acting. Wishing without doing.

The key is to take a look and say, “Where am I? What could I do to make the changes to make sure that I can take more certain daily steps toward the treasure I want, the mental treasure, the personal treasure, the spiritual treasure, the financial treasure? I don’t want to make any more errors, now’s the time to adjust my daily program to take me where I want to go.”

In lecturing the last 39 years, I’ve gotten letters and personal testimonies of people that have done such remarkable things with just a few suggestions. And that is why seminars, tapes and books can be so valuable. Here’s a key idea for us all to remember: We could all use a little coaching. When you’re playing the game, it’s sometimes hard to see it all.

But the key is to start right now making these changes to walk this new road. And here’s what’s exciting to me, just a few daily disciplines makes a great deal of difference in one year, three years, five years. And before you know it, you will be walking a brand new road.

Wherever You Are, Be There

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

One of the major reasons why we fail to find happiness or to create a unique lifestyle is because we have not yet mastered the art of being.

While we are home our thoughts are still absorbed with solving the challenges we face at the office. And when we are at the office we find ourselves worrying about problems at home.

We go through the day without really listening to what others are saying to us. We may be hearing the words, but we aren’t absorbing the message.

As we go through the day we find ourselves focusing on past experiences or future possibilities. We are so involved in yesterday and tomorrow that we never even notice that today is slipping by.

We go through the day rather than getting something from the day. We are everywhere at any given moment in time except living in that moment in time.

Lifestyle is learning to be wherever you are. It is developing a unique focus on the current moment, and drawing from it all of the substance and wealth of experience and emotions that it has to offer. Lifestyle is taking time to watch a sunset. Lifestyle is listening to silence. Lifestyle is capturing each moment so that it becomes a new part of what we are and of what we are in the process of becoming. Lifestyle is not something we do; it is something we experience. And until we learn to be there, we will never master the art of living well.

Are You Playing to Win or Not to Lose?

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

During the last Soccer World Cup held in Germany, my favorite team Brazil played against France in the quarter-final. Brazil was the favorites, not only because they were the 5-times World Champions, but because they had the most awesome attacking threat in world football. A win for Brazil should have been a mere formality considering the odds facing France.

The reality is that France won that game, and no-one can claim that they didn’t deserve it, even though some may argue that they were lucky to have even made it that far, since they barely scraped through their earlier matches.

So the question arises, how did a French team that didn’t have the quality of players that the Brazilians had, do the “impossible” and win the match?

The answer is simple, yet profound. The Brazilians, despite all their attacking threat, remembered an earlier World Cup in France, when they were beaten in the Final by this same French team. So that defeat weighed heavily on their minds, and they were determined not to let it happen again. So their minds were not set on winning, but were rather set on “not losing”.

France on the other hand, had only one thing on their mind, “winning”. Everything they did was focused on that one goal. And they had one other thing that worked to their advantage. They too remembered their great win against the Brazilians. This inspired them because they knew they could do it again.

The French have a history of causing sporting upsets against more fancied teams. On two occasions their supposedly “inferior” rugby team turned the tables and beat what is arguably, the best rugby team in the world, the New Zealand All Blacks. The All Blacks, too, just like the Brazilians focused on “not losing again” and paid the price.

You may think there is no difference, between “winning” and “not losing” but let me tell you. There is a huge difference.

Your subconscious mind is not as logical as you may think it is. It takes everything literally. The Law of Attraction states that “whatever you focus on, your subconscious mind automatically attracts” no exceptions.

Now, when you focus on “not losing” you put all your emotion on that thing you don’t want, which in this case is “losing” and guess what, you’ll attract a loss.

Your mind cannot assume that when you focus on “not losing” you actually mean, winning. If you want to win, you have to focus on “winning” PERIOD!

Think about your own life. What happens when you think about not having money, or worrying that you’ll not have money? I’m sure you agree that you attract more of the same. As these examples have shown, getting that you want is not dependent on how many or what type of resources you have or don’t have. All it takes is identifying what you want, focusing on it and then taking action that is consistent with your desire.

Once you do that the Universe will give you all the conditions, resources and people you need to make your dream a reality.

When you play while thinking about “not losing”, all your actions are driven by fear. However those who play to win play with confidence. Their attitude is, “I have nothing to lose, so I might as well give it my everything”.

Want to make sure that the year 2009, will be your year in which you get on the fast track to manifest your desires? Then visit Ultimate Manifesting Guide now and learn how to play to win.

Attitude Is Everything

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

The process of human change begins within us. We all have tremendous potential. We all desire good results from our efforts. Most of us are willing to work hard and to pay the price that success and happiness demand.

Each of us has the ability to put our unique human potential into action and to acquire adesired result. But the one thing that determines the level of our potential, that produces the intensity of our activity, and that predicts the quality of the result we receive is our attitude.

Attitude determines how much of the future we are allowed to see. It decides the size of our dreams and influences our determination when we are faced with new challenges. No other person on earth has dominion over our attitude. People can affect our attitude by teaching us poor thinking habits or unintentionally misinforming us or providing us with negative sources of influence, but no one can control our attitude unless we voluntarily surrender that control.

No one else “makes us angry.” We make ourselves angry when we surrender control of our attitude. What someone else may have done is irrelevant. We choose, not they. They merely put our attitude to a test. If we select a volatile attitude by becoming hostile, angry, jealous or suspicious, then we have failed the test.

If we condemn ourselves by believing that we are unworthy, then again, we have failed the test.If we care at all about ourselves, then we must accept full responsibility for our own feelings. We must learn to guard against those feelings that have the capacity to lead our attitude down the wrong path and to strengthen those feelings that can lead us confidently into a better future.

If we want to receive the rewards the future holds in trust for us, then we must exercise the most important choice given to us as members of the human race by maintaining total dominion over our attitude. Our attitude is an asset, a treasure of great value, which must be protected accordingly. Beware of the vandals and thieves among us who would injure our positive attitude or seek to steal it away.

Having the right attitude is one of the basics that success requires. The combination of a sound personal philosophy and a positive attitude about ourselves and the world around us gives us an inner strength and a firm resolve that influences all the other areas of our existence.

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn
