Wherever You Are, Be There

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

One of the major reasons why we fail to find happiness or to create a unique lifestyle is because we have not yet mastered the art of being.

While we are home our thoughts are still absorbed with solving the challenges we face at the office. And when we are at the office we find ourselves worrying about problems at home.

We go through the day without really listening to what others are saying to us. We may be hearing the words, but we aren’t absorbing the message.

As we go through the day we find ourselves focusing on past experiences or future possibilities. We are so involved in yesterday and tomorrow that we never even notice that today is slipping by.

We go through the day rather than getting something from the day. We are everywhere at any given moment in time except living in that moment in time.

Lifestyle is learning to be wherever you are. It is developing a unique focus on the current moment, and drawing from it all of the substance and wealth of experience and emotions that it has to offer. Lifestyle is taking time to watch a sunset. Lifestyle is listening to silence. Lifestyle is capturing each moment so that it becomes a new part of what we are and of what we are in the process of becoming. Lifestyle is not something we do; it is something we experience. And until we learn to be there, we will never master the art of living well.

Are You Playing to Win or Not to Lose?

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

During the last Soccer World Cup held in Germany, my favorite team Brazil played against France in the quarter-final. Brazil was the favorites, not only because they were the 5-times World Champions, but because they had the most awesome attacking threat in world football. A win for Brazil should have been a mere formality considering the odds facing France.

The reality is that France won that game, and no-one can claim that they didn’t deserve it, even though some may argue that they were lucky to have even made it that far, since they barely scraped through their earlier matches.

So the question arises, how did a French team that didn’t have the quality of players that the Brazilians had, do the “impossible” and win the match?

The answer is simple, yet profound. The Brazilians, despite all their attacking threat, remembered an earlier World Cup in France, when they were beaten in the Final by this same French team. So that defeat weighed heavily on their minds, and they were determined not to let it happen again. So their minds were not set on winning, but were rather set on “not losing”.

France on the other hand, had only one thing on their mind, “winning”. Everything they did was focused on that one goal. And they had one other thing that worked to their advantage. They too remembered their great win against the Brazilians. This inspired them because they knew they could do it again.

The French have a history of causing sporting upsets against more fancied teams. On two occasions their supposedly “inferior” rugby team turned the tables and beat what is arguably, the best rugby team in the world, the New Zealand All Blacks. The All Blacks, too, just like the Brazilians focused on “not losing again” and paid the price.

You may think there is no difference, between “winning” and “not losing” but let me tell you. There is a huge difference.

Your subconscious mind is not as logical as you may think it is. It takes everything literally. The Law of Attraction states that “whatever you focus on, your subconscious mind automatically attracts” no exceptions.

Now, when you focus on “not losing” you put all your emotion on that thing you don’t want, which in this case is “losing” and guess what, you’ll attract a loss.

Your mind cannot assume that when you focus on “not losing” you actually mean, winning. If you want to win, you have to focus on “winning” PERIOD!

Think about your own life. What happens when you think about not having money, or worrying that you’ll not have money? I’m sure you agree that you attract more of the same. As these examples have shown, getting that you want is not dependent on how many or what type of resources you have or don’t have. All it takes is identifying what you want, focusing on it and then taking action that is consistent with your desire.

Once you do that the Universe will give you all the conditions, resources and people you need to make your dream a reality.

When you play while thinking about “not losing”, all your actions are driven by fear. However those who play to win play with confidence. Their attitude is, “I have nothing to lose, so I might as well give it my everything”.

Attitude Is Everything

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

The process of human change begins within us. We all have tremendous potential. We all desire good results from our efforts. Most of us are willing to work hard and to pay the price that success and happiness demand.

Each of us has the ability to put our unique human potential into action and to acquire adesired result. But the one thing that determines the level of our potential, that produces the intensity of our activity, and that predicts the quality of the result we receive is our attitude.

Attitude determines how much of the future we are allowed to see. It decides the size of our dreams and influences our determination when we are faced with new challenges. No other person on earth has dominion over our attitude. People can affect our attitude by teaching us poor thinking habits or unintentionally misinforming us or providing us with negative sources of influence, but no one can control our attitude unless we voluntarily surrender that control.

No one else “makes us angry.” We make ourselves angry when we surrender control of our attitude. What someone else may have done is irrelevant. We choose, not they. They merely put our attitude to a test. If we select a volatile attitude by becoming hostile, angry, jealous or suspicious, then we have failed the test.

If we condemn ourselves by believing that we are unworthy, then again, we have failed the test.If we care at all about ourselves, then we must accept full responsibility for our own feelings. We must learn to guard against those feelings that have the capacity to lead our attitude down the wrong path and to strengthen those feelings that can lead us confidently into a better future.

If we want to receive the rewards the future holds in trust for us, then we must exercise the most important choice given to us as members of the human race by maintaining total dominion over our attitude. Our attitude is an asset, a treasure of great value, which must be protected accordingly. Beware of the vandals and thieves among us who would injure our positive attitude or seek to steal it away.

Having the right attitude is one of the basics that success requires. The combination of a sound personal philosophy and a positive attitude about ourselves and the world around us gives us an inner strength and a firm resolve that influences all the other areas of our existence.

Why Your New Year’s Resolutions Never Stick!

Monday, January 5th, 2009

If you want to do a new thing in the physical, you have to do a new thing in the mind first. The reason most people fail in their new years resolutions as well as other goals that they set for themselves is that they don’t take their mindset into account. The result, predictably is failure.

Consider the following statement, which by the way, is a fact. “Everything starts and is enacted in your mind before it takes place in the physical universe.” This includes success and failure.

I will use the very apt analogy with a computer to explain how this works, and why it is so.

Think of your personal computer or PC. If you’re not familiar with how a computer is put together you may think, what you see on the outside is all there is to it. However that is not the case. What you see on the outside is just there to give instructions to what is on the inside.

Don’t they also say that about icebergs? That which you actually see is only the tip and that the biggest chunk lies hidden under the surface? Perhaps that’s why the Titanic ran into one, but I’m digressing, so let’s get back to the topic at hand, which is the working of your PC.

It is the part of the computer that is on the inside and that you cannot see, which is doing most of the work. This is in reality what enables your PC to accomplish all you ask of it. Without that part which is on the inside, your PC would basically be useless. It may look good on the outside, but that’s all it would be; an empty shell.

You could type on the keyboard until you’re blue in the face, but if that keyboard is not connected to a software program on the inside, specifically programmed to obey your commands, nothing would happen.

It is the same with you and your mind. If the human brain or the mind is not functioning because of some condition, then you can do whatever you want on the body or with the body, but it would be useless.

Let’s get back to the computer. What I sketched above is just one scenario.

The other scenario is that the keyboard can be connected to a software program, but if that software program is not setup specifically for what you’re trying to accomplish it wouldn’t help you much either.

Remember, there are thousands of software programs on the market. Each one designed to perform a particular function and execute specific commands, with some of these programs even having multiple versions. As the versions differ, so too do its capabilities.

Now let’s get back to your new year’s resolutions. The only reason you would make a resolution is because there is something in your life that you’re not happy with and that you want to improve. Now I can for a fact tell you, that the mind had something to do with your failure or lack of success.

Whether you want to stop smoking or stop drinking or want to improve yourself in terms of your skills or qualification, your mind is the main reason why it was a problem and it has to be a part of your solution.

Just as the computer needs specific software for specific tasks, so too you need a specific mindset for whatever it is you wish to accomplish.

The reason you failed in the past is because you had a failure mindset. Most people who make new resolutions set goals, like “I will stop smoking by doing A, B, C” and unfortunately they fail because they’re trying to accomplish all these new goals with a failure mindset.

Jesus said in Luke 5:37-38 “And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins.”

Trying to do something new (stop smoking) with an old mindset (I can’t stop) or (I need a cigarette) is like pouring new wine into old wineskins. The old skins will tear and all the effort, time and money you put into it will be wasted.

It’s impossible to achieve success with a failure mindset. You need to change your mindset to that of a winner.

A failure mindset expects failure around every turn and attracts it even though you’re working hard on the outside to create success. That is why you keep on encountering obstacle after obstacle and why you sometimes sabotage your own success.

So how do you program your mind for success? I thought you would never ask.

Achieve all your new year’s resolutions and any other goal you set for yourself with the Ultimate Manifesting Guide.

Happy New Year

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

I want to wish everyone a happy and prosperous 2009. Hope that this year will be much better than 2008 and that all your dreams will come true.

I’m still on vacation in New York City with my family. We are enjoying our time here, although we find the cold too much to handle at times. Although we’re used to cold temperatures back home in Namibia, we’ve forgotten how it feels since we’ve been in the Caribbean for the last year and a half.

Yesterday was again one of those cold days with rain and snow but today is pleasantly sunny and not as cold.

We’re planning to go downtown and do some more shopping as well as to go up to the observation deck at the Empire State Building.

We only have a few more days left before we fly back and want to get in as much as possible. The forecasters envisages any cold day tomorrow, so all the more reason to get outside today and enjoy it.

I’ve been marvelling tis morning about all my intentions that I set before I came here and how all of them came true. It’s an awesome feeling to see how you consciously create all you want.

I’m looking forward to read about your own conscious creation success stories.

Bye for now. Talk to you soon.
