It’s Not About You!

Monday, January 28th, 2008

I know you have experienced it before. You may not have meant it that way, but that’s how it was perceived. You felt that it was unwarranted and that you didn’t deserve it, and you are probably right.

When all these things happen that make you feel bad about yourself, it is time to remember that it is not about you, but about them who try to make you feel bad about yourself.

You see, no matter how good a person you are, and how much you do for others, there are always going to be people who will not like you or what you do. They may have a problem with your always sunny attitude or your patience. Or it may be something like your race or the complexion of your skin that they have a problem with.

There are various things that just seem to irk some people, and then they make it seem as if you are the bad guy. The other day a friend of mine, experienced this first hand. Someone visited his site, requested a report from the autoresponder and then accused him of sending him worthless junk.

Why are people like this? I have discovered that when someone feels bad about himself, he’ll try and take it out on others. When he is frustrated because of his lack of success he starts to resent others for having the success he so desperately craves, but doesn’t have.

So the next time someone tries to make you feel bad for no reason at all, remember. It is not about you, it is about them. So feel good about yourself and go your own way, because you are only responsible for your happiness and nobody else’s.

How Forgiveness Can Set You Free

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

We all have been in the familiar position that we were hurt by somebody. Perhaps it may even have been someone close to us. For most people the natural reaction is to hold on to this hurt for as long as possible. Some may even plot revenge.

Why is it that we don’t forgive readily? I think the reason may be, because it is easier to hate than to forgive. Some people think to forgive is a sign of weakness, but let me tell you, it is not. To forgive takes courage and extra effort.

What is forgiveness? It is a gift from a generous heart. Forgiveness is not a reward. It is not something that you give to someone based on his good behavior. It is something that you give to a person irrespective of whether he has deserved it or not. Forgiveness is also not based on whether the person has asked for forgiveness.

Also know this. Forgiveness is not an event, which starts and concludes when you say the words, “I forgive you”.

Forgiveness is an act and a process, which often takes time. The deeper your hurt the longer it usually takes to completely forgive. It is an act because it is not just the words you say but it is your actions which will show if you’ve really forgiven.

A fine example of someone who embodies true forgiveness is former South African president Nelson Mandela. Mandela was imprisoned by the former all-white South African government for 27 years. Upon his release Mandela surprised the whole world when he showed no bitterness towards his jailers. That is truly remarkable.

Why is it necessary to forgive? Forgiveness releases you from the burden of bitterness and hate. It takes enormous energy to hate and to keep that hate in place. Forgiveness brings freedom whereas revenge is neither sweet nor gratifying, its just a hollow feeling.

Hate puts unnecessary stress on your body. It is a well-known fact, proven by numerous studies, that bitterness and hate can actually make you sick. A great number of people in the world don’t really belong in a hospital, because the root of their problem is not physical but is mental. The moment they forgive and let go of their hate they will start to get well.

There is another reason why you need to forgive. If you don’t forgive you actually prevent blessings from flowing to you. The Bible says that before you pray for anything first forgive those who wronged you, and then your Father in heaven will forgive you your wrongs. So there you can see that blessings are closely connected to your forgiving others. I have personal experience of this.

I used to be very cynical about life and didn’t forgive easily. At the time I also struggled in every area of my life. Things just didn’t seem to work out for me. It is as if everything that could go wrong, always went wrong.

That was until somebody told me to take a look at my attitude. And when I forgave those who wronged me and changed my attitude, everything else changed. It didn’t happen overnight. It took a while, but I could see and feel the difference.

Now you may ask how do you know when you’ve really forgiven someone? Here’s the key. If after you’ve forgiven that person you still experience negative sting whenever you think of him or her, it means you still have work to do.

If however you don’t have negative feelings towards that person it means you are free.

Are things not working out in your life, despite you doing all the “right” things? Is it possible that you have unforgiveness in your heart? There is a Season for Everything!

Monday, January 21st, 2008

You probably never thought of life in this way, but it is true. The Book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible,  Chapter 3 to be exact, tells us there is a season for everything:

  • A time to be born and a time to die
  • A time to plant and a time to harvest
  • A time to kill and a time to heal
  • A time to destroy and a time to rebuilt
  • A time to cry and a time to laugh
  • A time to grieve and a time to dance
  • A time to scatter and a time to gather
  • A time to lose and a time to find
  • A time to keep and a time to throw away
  • A time to be born and a time to die
  • A time to tear and a time to repair
  • A time to speak up and a time to be quiet
  • A time to hate and a time to love
  • A time to make war and a time to make peace

As you’re reading here you may think, “a time for hate?” Yes, there is even a season when it would be acceptable to be angry or feel hate. For example if someone close to you, a parent or a child is brutally killed, you may experience feelings of anger and hate towards the perpetrator.

These feelings would come involuntary, in other words whether you want to feel that way or not, and it wouldn’t be wrong to feel like that for a while. However it would be wrong to further stoke these feelings or to actively entertain thoughts of revenge.

The right thing to do in such a situation would be to acknowledge that you have these feelings, which are by-products of the crime. You also need to recognize that it is acceptable to feel that way ONLY for a season and not for the rest of your life.

After a period of time the anger and hate has to be replaced by forgiveness and acceptance, because anger and hate represents a certain season. If one holds on to it for too long, one remains in the past and doesn’t progress. We need to leave the past behind and move on.

Life is dynamic and has many facets as the different seasons prove. Every season we go through is different from all others and is meant to help us grow. Just look at the trees. During winter and autumn their leaves are brown and dry, but during spring and summer they are vibrant and in full bloom.

The seasons of winter and autumn helps the trees get rid of old leaves and branches in preparation for spring and summer when they will grow new leaves and branches. They will then become as good as new. As long as the old leaves and branches remain, there will not be room for the new, limiting any growth.

This is the same for us as human beings. We also go through seasons. Every time and season we go through in our lives prepares us for the next season.

The ultimate purpose of the different seasons in one’s life is growth. Growth in terms of knowledge, experience and capacity, both physically and spiritually. However for those who don’t experience the full cycle of the four seasons there is unfortunately no growth.

I don’t know what season you are going through in your personal life. However most people I know are in their winter season, which is the season where the leaves are dry and brown. When you ask someone who is in the middle of his personal winter, how he is doing, he might reply with something like, “not too bad.”

In contrast someone who is in his spring or summer season will reply with something like, “excellent” or “couldn’t be better.”

If you don’t get rid of your dry leaves during your autumn season there will not be a spring and or summer season for you. Unfortunately this is the situation for many people who remain in one season all their lives, and hence never experiences the freedom and renewal which comes from letting go of the past.

When you think of the periods in your life as seasons, i.e. as part of a cycle, it becomes easier to manage the conditions and circumstances associated with that season. Because you see it for what it is, a necessary yet temporary part of life which will soon pass.

To be ready for the next season you must prepare yourself. But how do you do this? Subscribe Free to my Newsletter, The Prosperity Times and receive powerful tips and quotes in your enbox every week.

What if, you can have what you want?

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Yesterday I talked about how to deal with the negative what if’s.

If you didn’t see that post, you can see it here.

Today I want to ask you, what if all your dreams came true?

What if you had your dream car…

What type of car would it be; what model, what colour would it be?

What if you had your dream house…

Where would it be located; how would it look, how many bedrooms woud it have?

Who would you be sharing it with?

How many cars would be in the garage?

What if you could travel the world, see all the places you always wanted to see, staying in 5 star hotels?

Thinking all this is impossible?

Well, think again…

Everything in this world is possible. Anything can change at any given moment. You are the single most critical element that affects that change. So be aware of your thoughts, beliefs and feeling at any given moment. The wonderful thing is that you don’t just have to be aware of how you feel or what you think, you can change it at anytime, if you are not happy with your current experiences.

It is by seeing it (visualizing) and feeling and experiencing it (imagining how it would feel if you had it) that you attract the object of your desires.

It is only when it is observed by you as the observer that something happens. By observing it, you make it happen and the nature of the outcome is determined by your mental state and expectation.

That is why if you expect a negative outcome, that’s what you get. But when you expect a positive outcome by imagining it beforehand you are most likely to get it.

The more clearly you can see, feel and experience the event or situation before it actually happens, the sooner you will draw it unto you.

What if I tell you that you can ACTUALLY HAVE WHAT YOU WANT, sooner than you think?

How to Deal With the “What Ifs…”

Wednesday, January 16th, 2008

What is the thought that most often pops up in your head as soon as you come up with an exciting new idea?

If you thought, “what if” then you are absolutely right. It usually goes like this: “what if this goes wrong or it doesn’t work.” Or “what if there is no market for this or what if nobody buys…,” etc.

Have you noticed something about these “what if’s?” They are all negative! They all assume that something bad is going to happen.

Where is all this negative back-talk coming from? It is a result of all the negative experiences you have been exposed to from the time you were still young until the present. Your subconscious is like a sponge that soaks up everything you experience and then plays it back for you like a tape recorder.

So what happens when you hear this negative commentary from your subconscious? This represents a roadblock for most people, literally! The moment they hear this they dwell on it, and the more they dwell on it, the more “evidence” the subconscious presents as to why it may not be a good thing to go ahead with this new idea.

As a consequence most people never get to prove their subconscious wrong.

But what if, they had gone ahead regardless? They would most likely have achieved their objective and would have proven their subconscious wrong in the process.

You see, the subconscious doesn’t only present negative evidence; it also presents positive evidence, provided it has been exposed to such.

When you go ahead regardless, you would most likely have succeeded and then you could use this new “evidence” to counteract all the old “evidence” presented by your subconscious. Every time you achieve something you have new ammunition to help you gain momentum.

Eventually this new positive evidence will replace the old negative evidence, and it will become easier and easier to tackle and accomplish new challenges.

Let me tell you something very powerful and important, in case you didn’t know it.

You are an incredibly powerful being, with the most powerful force in the universe, your mind, at your disposal.

You can do anything you want.

The only reason you haven’t been able to achieve all the feats you are capable of is, because you didn’t know how much power you had or you didn’t believe in yourself enough.

There is something you need to understand. Everything in the Universe is pure potential.

This means that just as something has the potential to go wrong it has an equal chance to go right. When you listen to the negative voice from your subconscious and dwell on it, then you automatically tilt the balance towards a negative outcome.

However, if you hear the negative voice, but choose to ignore it, instead choosing to think positive thoughts and going ahead with your idea, you actually tilt the balance towards a positive outcome, and will most likely achieve your goals.

So the next time your subconscious starts with its usual “what if” negative back-talk you can say, “so what” and do it anyway!

I Shall Manifest My Desires Because I Say So

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

When I say I shall manifest my desires I am stating my intention clearly. Having the intent and stating your intention clearly is very important when attempting to manifest your desires.

Why is this so? When you state your intent clearly you are putting your subconscious, which is the entity that manages your manifestation on notice, as to what exactly you want to attract.

So will I really attract what I say just because I say so? Yes and no. Yes, because when you state your intention clearly you put the wheels in motion, but “No” if thats where it stops. You need to do more than that if you are really going to manifest your desires.

For one you will need to keep your focus on that intention for most of your waking time. How do you put your focus on your intention? You visualize yourself having actually achieved your goal. Be excited and brim with anticipation whenever you think of your goal. If you find something that you enjoy very much, then do it, while all the time keeping your eyes on your intention. Above all you should have the peace that al is well and all has been taken care off.

And two, you’ll need to listen to your higher self. If your subconscious which by the way, is the same as your higher self,  tells you to do this or to do that, then you should it without delay.  Failure to listen to this higher guidance and to follow the prompting of your higher self when it tells you to take specific inspired action, may result in you not manifesting your desires.

Thirdly, when you affirm your intentions bystating them loudly you also encourage yourself to remain committed to your goal of manifesting whatever it is you have set as your goal.

The Power of Happiness

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

What is the one thing that motivates human beings to want to manifest their desires? The one thing they all want is happiness. And they think that if they can just have a million dollars, they would be happy… If they can just have that new house, that new car, that new husband or wife, then all their troubles would just melt away.

However the reality is that none of these things can give you happiness. Neither money, nor a new car nor a new house. Sure, a million dollars may give you a lot of things you don’t have now, and can make your life easier. But on the other hand, it can also give you a million new problems you don’t have now.

If you ask the most successful people in the world, they will all tell you that you have to find some measure of happiness first, before you can have money or all the other worldly posessions people wish to manifest.

So what this tell you is that if you do certain things, just so that you can be happy, yet you don’t enjoy what you do, you’ll find that all your efforts will come to nothing and you’ll be frustrated at every turn.

So to sum it all up: The key to manifest your desires is to find something that really, really makes you happy and to do it. Do it not for the money or the reward, but do it because it makes you happy. And before you know it, the money and everything else you ever wanted will come knocking at your door.

How to Get Unstuck and Manifest Your Desires

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Are you grateful for what you have? Every year thanksgiving is celebrated in North America, as well as elsewhere in the world, where people remember to give thanks for all the things in their lives.

But did you know that thankfulness or the lack thereof can either help you manifest your desires or it can keep you from having them at all?

All the things you ever wanted in your life like the new car or the new house or financial freedom can be yours, if you’ll just first acknowledge and be grateful for the things
you already have in your life.

We often get so caugt up in our daily struggles that we forget to count our blessings. And the fact of the matter is that we all have something to be grateful for and there is always someone else who is worse off than you.

Many of us only remember to be thankful on special days like Thanksgiving or Christmas or when someone else reminds us. But thanksgiving should actually become an attitude, something that you carry with you every day, irrespective of what happens in your life.

And believe it or not, giving thanks and be grateful every single day for the things you already have, may just be the one single thing that will get you unstuck, and help you manifest your desires.

There is a Hidden Secret that can get you unstuck so that you can manifest your desires. Click Here to find out what it is!

Inspired Action Always Leads to Manifesting Your Desires

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Have you ever heard someone say you must take inspired action, especially in law of attraction circles, and wondered just what it meant? Inspired action means that it is action that is directed by your higher self, God, the universe or whatever you want to call the super intelligence, which knows all things and can do all things.

But what makes inspired action different from just taking action, and how will someone who wants to manifest his desires know the difference, especially if you have been taking action for as long as you know and have nothing to show for it, except frustration?

Let me take you to the following a story in the Bible, which will illustrate, better than I can, the difference between normal "action" and "inspired action."

Luke chapter 5 verses 1 – 7
One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God, he saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,
"Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch."

Simon answered, "Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets." When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.

The story above is about a group of men who have been trying to catch fish all night. This is something they have been doing all their lives, because they were fishermen. Now if you have been catching fish yourself you will know that sometimes you may catch more fish than other times, and there are times when you may catch nothing at all. In other words, catching fish is very unpredictable much like life itself, I suppose. Sometimes people all around you may be catching fish except you.

Getting back to the story, we see that the fishermen have been trying to catch fish all night and didn’t succeed. So they gave up and came to shore, no doubt disappointed that they were unable to catch any fish.

According to the Bible, Jesus found them while they were busy cleaning their nets. Now here comes the interesting part, Jesus instructs them to go back in the water and cast their nets. They did as they were instructed, and lo and behold, they caught so much fish that, "their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink."

Now I don’t know why they couldn’t catch fish the first time, even though they may have been at the exact spot, yet were able to do so the second time around, and that’s not really the point of the article.

But the important point I want to make here is that the first action was their own and didn’t result in anything except disappointment. However the second action was directed by someone higher than them. Someone who knew, that if they go for the second time they would catch fish. In this instance, that higher person was Jesus. In the case of you and me, we will say it is the higher self, God or the universe.

Now what would have happened if they had said, we have tried all night and got nothing so it’s no use trying again? Would they still have caught fish if they for some reason had decided to wait until the next day? They, in all likelihood, would not have caught anything, or at least not as much as they caught this time.

Inspired action is directed or instructed by a higher intelligence for a specific person, situation and place at a specific time. Wait too long or choose the wrong place and you may miss the blessing that you were meant to receive altogether.

So how will you know that you are receiving inspired direction or if it is just you who is perhaps doing something out of habit or because you think it is the right thing to do?

You may not always know when you are receiving higher guidance, so the best advice is to just do whatever you feel guided to do, especially when it doesn’t seem to make sense, as in the story I related to you. The men had just returned from the lake, where they had caught nothing and here comes Jesus telling them to go back in there and try again. Most people would dismiss this, and that’s exactly where they miss their blessing.

Christmas, A Time to Reflect?

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Christmas is here again and for many people it is a time of reflection on the year that has passed and what they have accomplished in it. For most people the indictment is less than positive, as they feel they could have accomplished more.

They then tell themselves that the New Year is going to be different and we have the usual New Year’s resolutions which don’t last very long, and before we know it, we are at another Christmas, and sadly the results are the same. Anyone who has gone through this mindless routine for some time starts to doubt that they will ever realize their goals and dreams. And slowly as the years pass without them having achieved their desires they just give up.

Now, Christmas is indeed a time of reflection, but rather then a time to reflect on where you messed up and beating yourself over it, you should reflect on whether you were happy, and whether you have loved. And in the instance that you found yourself having fallen short, you should:

First, forgive yourself for not loving yourself, your family and all those you came into contact with more.

Secondly, forgive all those people who hurt you or disappointed you in the past.

Thirdly, appreciate all that you have received during the past year and give thanks for it.

Fourthly, if you have to make a resolution for 2008, let be this one: Make a decision to be happy and just go out and enjoy your life.

Why am I giving you this simple advice – because the simplest advice often turns out to be, the most powerful. In case you are wondering why, if this simple advice is as powerful as I claim, why more people are not using it. The very fact, that it is simple cause people to disregard it. It is a fact that people want complicated solutions to life’s challenges and they often miss the simple ones.

If you look at some of the successful people in the world, you’ll find that some of them are not very clever or very educated, yet they are successful. Take the American Idol winner, Fantasia for example. When she won American Idol, she couldn’t even read or write. So how did she pull it off?

She could sing and she loved doing it. She didn’t have a plan or a timetable that would take her to fame and fortune, she just loved singing. Some people knew that she could sing and suggested she auditioned for American Idol, and as they say, the rest is history.

So, as this Christmas time has arrived, I wish you a Merry Christmas and I wish that in the New Year 2008 you will find something that you really love doing, and just start doing it. As my friend, Mike Litman often says, "you don’t have to get it right; you just have to get it going."

If you do this, and keep on doing it, then I can assure you that by this time 2008, your life will be very much different then it is now.
