Yesterday while I was sitting on my bed working on my laptop I suddenly heard flapping wings. When looked up I saw a small bird flying around in my bedroom.
I was stunned for a moment, trying to figure out how the bird could have entered the house. So I just sat there for a moment watching it, flying from window to window as it looked for a way to escape.
After watching the bird for about two or three minutes and seeing that it wouldn’t be able to escape I decided to catch it and set it free.
So, I got up and tried to catch the bird, which was trying to avoid being caught. After chasing it around for about 3 minutes I finally cornered and caught the little bird.
It was so exhausted of all its efforts to try and escape and was obviously very scared. It probably expected to be killed any moment now.
However, I didn’t kill it. I took it outside and released it. But strangely enough, it didn’t fly away immediately. It said at the same place where I put it down for a little while before it eventually flew away.
Afterwards I contemplated what had just happened. And as I thought about it, I started to see similarities between what had just happened and what is happening daily with us in a spiritual way.
Most of us do not like what we are experiencing daily, in other words we don’t like our lives and we want to change it. So we start to pray about it, and affirm it, and visualize it.
And before long, a series of things start to happen. It seems as if things are going from bad to worse, and we become even more unhappy.
So, you do whatever you can to resent and resist all these new “bad” events.
But what you do not know is that these events were set in motion by your desires. Your desire to be free… to have more money… to be more successful and to have more personal fulfillment.
You activated the law of attraction and the Universe responded, putting the process in motion.
But unfortunately you don’t see it that way, and you resist it… in essence resisting the very things you say you want.
When that bird ended up in my bedroom, it was outside of its comfort zone. It wanted to get out of that situation, and was doing everything that it knew how, but wasn’t succeeding.
So I saw its plight, and got up to rescue it. However the bird didn’t see it that way.
In my getting up and trying to rescue it, it saw danger and a terrible outcome. It expected to be killed. It wanted to remain in control at all cost, so as to prevent that.
If it had just let go, I would have been able to catch it sooner and would have been able to release it sooner.
However, it didn’t. It tried to get away and flew into mirrors and into the window glass, hurting itself and causing unnecessary stress that it could have avoided.
I eventually caught the bird and it realized that I wasn’t planning to harm it after all.
So you too are running, and running until you can’t run anymore. Running from what you deem to be a terrible outcome, which is actually your freedom disguised as some unwelcome experience. You want to keep control at all cost, because you’re afraid that the Universe will not supply in your needs. In other words, you don’t have faith… that things will work out.
The sooner you realize that the things that are happening to you today are not there to harm you, but to free you, the sooner you’ll have the things you’ve always wanted.
Whether it is more money… better health, or more happiness… It is all ready and waiting for you as soon as you just let go and let God take control.
I’m reminded at this time of the saying, “whatever doesn’t kill you, can only make you stronger.”
